Guarnaschelli had her early culinary education by watching her mother modify cookbooks and try recipes. She began her career under Larry Forgione before working in various Los Angeles, New York and French restaurants. Then she became the executive chef of Butter. Guarnaschelli participated in Food Network's Iron Chef America in 2007. She took on Cat Cora at the Farmers Market Battle of 2007 and won. She is now a judge of the program. She also competed for The Next Iron Chef in season 4 in 2011. She was eliminated from the Food Network Challenge Ultimate Thanksgiving Feast.
